The IHA Council on Quality and Patient Safety has recommended that hospitals continue to use plain language for emergency codes, if this is the hospitals standard practice. However, if using colors, the council recommends that hospitals implement the use of red, blue, and amber. Hospitals are not required to comply with this policy.
