Strategies:

The Indiana Patient Safety Center will serve as a resource to health care providers, patients, consumers, and state regulatory agencies through initiatives to:

  • Foster the development of regional "safety coalitions" to accelerate improvement
  • Marshal the state’s health and academic assets to improve patient safety
  • Disseminate evidence-based best practices in patient safety throughout Indiana
  • Provide education, training, and other tools
  • Serve as a resource to state regulatory agencies and the Indiana General Assembly
  • Apply systems science to redesign and improve health care delivery systems through linkages between research and field work
  • Develop a set of core competencies for designing and maintaining reliable processes of care
  • Engage patients and families into improvement work
  • Engage faculty from the regional campuses of Indiana University and Purdue University
