Patient Safety Course Spring


Health Outcomes and Decision Making
The Indiana Patient Safety Center and the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IUPUI offers a graduate course in evidence-based quality and patient safety during each spring semester. Graduate students in nursing, health administration, and public health care, as well as physicians may enroll.

Topics of the course include:
  • Patient safety basics: Observing and creating a culture of safety
  • Communication and complex adaptive systems
  • Reliability and design
  • Tools school: Methods and tools to reduce harm
  • Reducing harm in specific areas of risk
  • Leadership for patient safety
  • Health policy perspective
  • Leading transformational change
